New Delhi, October 17 (BRICS TV) – India’s Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi held discussions with General Alemshet Degife Balcha, Chief of Land Force and Military Advisor of Ethiopia, on strengthening defence cooperation and enhancing capacity-building initiatives. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries (UNTCC) Chiefs’ Conclave 2025 in New Delhi.
According to a post by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army, the talks between the two military leaders focused on deepening collaboration in areas such as training, peacekeeping, and defence capacity-building. The interaction underscored the shared commitment of both nations to foster stronger defence partnerships and promote regional peace and stability through multilateral engagement.

During his address at the conclave, General Alemshet Degife highlighted the growing complexity of the global security environment, citing threats such as terrorism, violent extremism, cyber warfare, and regional instability. He emphasized the need for unity and collaboration among troop-contributing countries to address these evolving challenges effectively.
Hosted by India from October 14 to 16, the UNTCC Chiefs’ Conclave 2025 brought together senior military leaders from over 30 nations to deliberate on enhancing global peacekeeping cooperation and addressing shared security concerns.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking at the event, reaffirmed India’s commitment to upholding a “rules-based international order,” emphasizing that peace is essential for global development and prosperity. “India’s participation in the UN Charter reflects our ancient philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world is one family,” he said.
General Dwivedi echoed this sentiment, stating that hosting the conference in India was both a privilege and a reaffirmation of the country’s dedication to global peace and cooperation. “It reflects India’s ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Vishwa Bandhu—India as a friend to all,” he noted.
The conclave served as a key platform for nations to exchange ideas and strengthen partnerships in support of international peacekeeping and collective security.
