BRICS+ India Head Meets Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister to Boost Agricultural Cooperation
New Delhi, August 28, 2025 — In a significant step towards enhancing multilateral cooperation within the BRICS+ framework, Prof. Dr. A.V. Srinivasan, Head of the BRICS+ in India and Distinguished Professor for International Studies & Research, held a high-level meeting with Hon. Vangelis Peter Haritatos, Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Land, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water & Rural Development from Zimbabwe.
The meeting focused on strengthening agricultural collaboration, sustainable farming practices, and food security initiatives among BRICS+ member states. Both leaders emphasized the importance of fostering technological exchange, capacity-building programs, and joint research projects to address global challenges in agriculture and rural development.
Prof. Dr. Srinivasan highlighted India’s role as an innovation hub within the BRICS+ network and stressed the need for knowledge-sharing platforms to empower farmers and improve rural livelihoods. Hon. Haritatos expressed Zimbabwe’s keen interest in leveraging India’s expertise in modern irrigation techniques, crop diversification, and agri-tech innovations.
“This collaboration aims to create a strategic roadmap for agricultural sustainability within the BRICS+ ecosystem,” said Prof. Dr. Srinivasan.
“Zimbabwe values India’s leadership in research and innovation and looks forward to strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties under the BRICS+ framework,” added Hon. Haritatos.
The discussion also touched upon climate-resilient agriculture, water resource management, and opportunities for joint investments in agri-business sectors.
This meeting marks a crucial milestone in expanding India-Zimbabwe relations and underscores BRICS+’s vision of promoting inclusive growth, food security, and sustainable development across member nations.
BRICS+ School India will continue to play a pivotal role in facilitating academic and policy-level dialogues, aiming to bridge gaps between research and real-world implementation in the agricultural domain.
