“Youth for Nation & Swadeshi Jagran” (Bangalore & Rural Karnataka)
Esteemed guests, media representatives, dear youth, fellow compatriots — Namaste.
I stand before you today to launch a clarion call: the Youth for Nation movement, in partnership with Swadeshi Jagran for Bangalore and the rural districts of Karnataka. In a world where trade wars escalate, supply chains wobble, and global geopolitics is in flux — now more than ever — it is our duty and opportunity to turn to the spirit of Swadeshi: self-reliance, indigenous enterprise, economic dignity, and national resilience.
Why Swadeshi Is Imperative in the Current Global Scenario
• Historically, the concept of Swadeshi was not merely economic but also patriotic — a strategy to resist foreign exploitation, revive local enterprise, and restore national dignity.
• Today’s global trade conflicts and shifting geopolitical alliances — volatile tariffs, trade restrictions, supply-chain disruptions — mean that overdependence on imports or foreign supply can jeopardise economic security. In such times, promoting domestic production and export becomes not just wise, but strategic.
• Embracing Swadeshi in contemporary India aligns with this legacy: supporting Indian artisans, manufacturers, agrarian producers, and entrepreneurs in small towns and rural districts — enabling livelihoods, strengthening local economies, and ensuring greater economic sovereignty.
Economic Realities: Why Focus on Karnataka and India’s Growth
• The state of Karnataka — home to Bangalore and numerous rural districts — is among India’s most economically productive states. As of 2025-26, its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is estimated at approximately US $359.45 billion.
• Karnataka accounts for a significant share of the national economy: its contribution to India’s total GDP reached about 8.7% in 2025 — the highest ever recorded for the state.
• The economic structure of Karnataka is diversified, with services, industry, and agriculture all contributing, enabling Swadeshi efforts to draw on multiple sectors—from rural agriculture and small-scale industries to urban manufacturing and services.
• At the national level, India continues to be recognised as one of the largest global economies, with considerable growth potential as it seeks to enhance international competitiveness while safeguarding domestic interests.
Thus — when our state and nation are poised for growth — it is both a logical and ethical imperative for youth to invest in Swadeshi: for sustainable development, inclusive prosperity, and national dignity.

What the Youth Must Do: Call to Action
• Champion indigenous production — whether in villages, small towns, agro-based industries, crafts, or modern manufacturing. Promote “Made in India, Made in Karnataka.”
• Promote the export of Indian goods rather than unchecked imports — thereby creating markets abroad for Indian craftsmanship, industry, and agriculture.
• Support rural and semi-urban entrepreneurship — reinvigorate traditional skills, agriculture, and small manufacturing — to create economic opportunities beyond metros.
• Raise awareness and instil pride in Swadeshi values — economic self-reliance is not anti-globalism, but strategic sovereignty; not isolation, but dignity.
• Collaborate across sectors — youth, farmers, artisans, industry, academic institutions, trade bodies — to build value chains that benefit producers and consumers alike.
Why This Movement Matters — Even as India Ranks High Economically
One might wonder: if India and Karnataka are already among the world’s larger economies, why Swadeshi? The answer is simple: size alone does not guarantee security, inclusivity, or equitable growth. Economic strength must be rooted in resilience — in reducing vulnerabilities to external shocks, in empowering domestic livelihoods, in ensuring that growth reaches rural belts, not only urban centres.
Swadeshi is not a step back — it is a step forward: towards an India where growth is inclusive, sovereignty is valued, and every citizen — urban or rural — finds dignity in work, self-reliance, and national contribution.
In conclusion: I invite every young person of Karnataka — from Bangalore to our remotest villages — to join this movement. Let us rebuild and revive the spirit of Swadeshi. Let us build businesses, enterprises, exports — rooted here in our soil, powered by our hands, shaped by our vision. For the nation. For dignity. For prosperity.
