Egypt and Zambia Launch Joint Pharmaceutical Project to Strengthen African Medicine Production

Cairo and Lusaka have taken a significant step toward enhancing pharmaceutical cooperation, with the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) announcing plans to establish a joint medicine manufacturing facility in Zambia. This strategic initiative aligns with Egypt’s broader goal of expanding its presence in African markets and deepening regional partnerships in the healthcare sector, as reported by Sada El-Balad via TV BRICS.

A high-level Zambian delegation recently visited Egypt to discuss the project’s implementation. The talks focused on practical steps to advance industrial integration, transfer pharmaceutical expertise, and strengthen regulatory collaboration across the continent.

The facility will boost access to high-quality medicines in Zambia while supporting the development of local pharmaceutical capabilities. Officials from both countries hailed the initiative as a milestone for sustainable healthcare collaboration in Africa.

Zambian representatives, including senior officials from the partner company, expressed gratitude for Egypt’s regulatory and technical support. They emphasized the EDA’s vital role in ensuring the project’s success and praised Egypt’s leadership in pharmaceutical innovation on the continent.
